Mitchell Cheng is a pianist, composer, and teacher from Delaware Water Gap, PA. He studied classical music under the ABRSM system and began improvising and playing professionally in his hometown at age 13. Mitchell moved to New York City in 2013 to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Piano Performance at Manhattan School of Music, where he graduated in 2017. In addition to performing he is an experienced educator in classical and jazz piano technique as well as music theory and composition. His arrangements for brass were featured on Bob Dorough’s album “Duets”. Most notably he has shared the stage with the late NEA jazz master saxophonist Phil Woods. You can hear Mitchell playing professionally in NYC’s top venues on a monthly basis.
